Living In Fellowship With Christ Every Day
Text: Philippians 3:10; John 15:4
“That I may know Him…” — Philippians 3:10
“Abide in Me, and I in you.” — John 15:4
Introduction
The Christian life is not primarily about rules, duties, programs, or performance. It is about a Person.
Many believers know about Jesus but do not consistently enjoy fellowship with Jesus.
The goal of salvation is not merely forgiveness. The goal is Christ Himself.
God did not save us simply to keep us out of hell. He saved us to bring us into fellowship with His Son.
The greatest need of every believer today is not more information, more activity, or more success. Our greatest need is Jesus.
Paul reduced his entire life to one passion:
“That I may know Him.”
Not know more things.
Not accomplish more things.
Not possess more things.
Know Him.
I. CHRIST IS OUR NEW LIFE
Galatians 2:20
“It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.”
Salvation is not merely receiving a new direction. It is receiving a new life.
Christianity is not self-improvement.
It is Christ-impartation.
The old life could never please God.
The answer was not repairing the old life.
The answer was giving us Christ’s life.
The Christian life is not difficult.
The Christian life is impossible apart from Jesus.
That is why Christ came to live within us.
Five Truths
- Christ is not merely our example; He is our life.
- Every spiritual victory begins with dependence upon Him.
- The Christian life is not achieved; it is received.
- We grow when we learn to depend rather than perform.
- Fellowship begins when we recognize His indwelling presence.
II. CHRIST IS OUR DAILY COMPANION
John 15:4
“Abide in Me, and I in you.”
The Christian life is not a weekly visit with Jesus.
It is a daily walk with Jesus.
Many believers think fellowship is something that happens during church.
Jesus intended fellowship to happen during life.
At work.
At home.
In the car.
In the hospital.
At the dinner table.
In the quiet moments.
The branch does not occasionally connect to the vine.
The branch remains connected.
Abiding means maintaining a conscious awareness that Jesus is present and sufficient.
Five Truths
- Jesus is present whether we feel Him or not.
- Fellowship grows through continual dependence.
- Prayer becomes conversation rather than ceremony.
- Scripture becomes fellowship rather than information.
- Every circumstance becomes an opportunity to trust Christ.
III. CHRIST MUST BE SEEN IN OUR DAILY WALK
1 John 2:6
“The one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.”
Fellowship always affects conduct.
If Christ lives within us, eventually Christ must be seen through us.
The world may never read a Bible.
But they read believers every day.
People should hear Jesus in our words.
See Jesus in our actions.
Sense Jesus in our attitudes.
Notice Jesus in our responses.
The proof of fellowship is not merely what we profess.
The proof of fellowship is how we live.
The closer we walk with Jesus, the more we begin to resemble Him.
Five Truths
- Fellowship changes character.
- Obedience protects fellowship.
- Christlike love reveals Christ’s presence.
- Humility reflects the heart of Jesus.
- Daily faithfulness often speaks louder than words.
IV. CHRIST IS OUR EVERYTHING
Colossians 3:11
“Christ is all, and in all.”
Eventually every believer discovers that Jesus is not one part of life.
He is life.
He is not merely our Savior.
He is our peace.
He is our hope.
He is our wisdom.
He is our strength.
He is our joy.
He is our future.
He is our treasure.
Everything God gives us is intended to lead us back to Christ Himself.
The greatest gift Jesus gives is Jesus.
Paul lost position.
Lost prestige.
Lost comfort.
Lost security.
Yet he said:
“I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.”
When Christ becomes enough, the soul finds rest.
Five Truths
- Jesus is greater than every earthly blessing.
- Christ satisfies the deepest needs of the heart.
- Fellowship grows when Christ becomes our highest treasure.
- Earthly things find their proper place when Jesus is first.
- The believer’s greatest joy is knowing Christ.
Conclusion: How Do I Put This To Work Every Day?
1. Begin Every Morning With Jesus
Before checking the world, meet with Christ.
Acknowledge His presence.
Thank Him for His life within you.
2. Talk With Jesus Throughout The Day
Turn prayer into conversation.
Share joys.
Share burdens.
Share decisions.
Walk consciously with Him.
3. Ask One Question Repeatedly
“Lord Jesus, how would You live in this situation?”
Then obey what He shows you.
4. Keep Returning To The Cross
Remember who you are.
Remember whose you are.
Remember what He has done.
Let gratitude fuel fellowship.
5. End Every Day With Jesus
Review the day with Him.
Confess quickly.
Thank Him sincerely.
Rest in His love.
Final Appeal
Jesus is not asking you to live for Him alone.
Jesus is offering to live His life through you.
He is your new life.
He is your daily companion.
He is the pattern for your walk.
He is your everything.
The Christian life can be summarized in three words:
Jesus in me.
And when Jesus is in me,
I can trust Him.
I can follow Him.
I can obey Him.
I can rest in Him.
I can enjoy fellowship with Him.
Because in the end, the greatest blessing God gives is not heaven.
The greatest blessing God gives is Jesus Himself. Amen.
