1. Jesus Has Set My Course
Hebrews 12:1–2 — “Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.”
My life with Jesus is not random. There is a race “set before us.” Jesus knows the road, the people, the difficulties, the opportunities, and the work He has placed in front of me. My job is not to create another course but to faithfully walk the one He has given me.
Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” I do not need strength for somebody else’s course. I need Jesus’ strength for the part of my course He has given me today.
Meaning: Jesus has a course for my life. I follow Him on it.
Daily Walk: Ask, “Jesus, what does faithfulness look like today?”
Prayer: Lord Jesus, keep my eyes on You. Help me stop comparing my road with someone else’s and faithfully walk the course You have placed before me. Give me Your strength for today. Amen.
Jesus today: I will walk the course He has given me.
2. Jesus Goes Before Me
John 10:4 — “He goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.”
Jesus does not send me down the road alone. The Shepherd goes before His sheep. Whatever He leads me into, He is already there. That does not mean every road will be easy. It means I never have to walk it without Him.
I do not need to know everything that is ahead. I need to know Jesus. Philippians 4:13 means that the One leading me is also the One strengthening me. I can follow because my Shepherd goes first.
Meaning: Jesus leads; I follow.
Daily Walk: Follow Jesus without demanding that He explain the whole road first.
Prayer: Jesus, go before me today. Help me hear Your voice and follow You even when I cannot see very far ahead. Give me confidence in You rather than confidence in myself. Amen.
Jesus today: My Shepherd is already ahead of me.
3. My Strength Comes From Jesus
John 15:5 — “Without me ye can do nothing.”
Philippians 4:13 is not a statement about how strong I can become. Paul says, “through him who gives me strength.”Jesus Himself says that apart from Him we can do nothing. That keeps my confidence in the right place.
The Christian life is not learning how to live without Jesus. It is learning how completely I need Him. The more I understand my weakness, the more I can depend upon His strength. I can say every morning, “Jesus, I cannot live this life without You.”
Meaning: Jesus is the source of my strength.
Daily Walk: Depend upon Jesus before depending upon yourself.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, forgive me for trying to live in my own strength. I need You. Guide me, strengthen me, and live Your life through me today. Amen.
Jesus today: Without Him I can do nothing; with Him I can do what He gives me to do.
4. I Do Not Have to Be Strong Enough
2 Corinthians 12:9 — “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”
One of the great freedoms of following Jesus is that I do not have to pretend I am strong. Paul learned that his weakness could become the place where Christ’s strength was most clearly seen. Weakness does not have to defeat me if it sends me to Jesus.
When I reach the end of myself, I have not reached the end of Christ. Philippians 4:13 does not deny weakness. It tells me where to find strength when I am weak. Jesus is enough for the place where I am not enough.
Meaning: My weakness can become dependence upon Jesus.
Daily Walk: Bring your weakness to Christ instead of hiding it.
Prayer: Jesus, You know where I am weak. I give those places to You. Let Your strength work in me where mine fails. Keep me close to You and dependent upon You today. Amen.
Jesus today: I do not have to be strong enough because He is.
5. Jesus Gives Me Strength for Today
Matthew 6:34 — “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.”
Jesus teaches me not to carry tomorrow before it arrives. I wear myself down when I try to carry yesterday’s regrets, today’s responsibilities, and tomorrow’s worries all at the same time. Jesus calls me back to today.
Philippians 4:13 tells me that Christ will give me strength for what He has placed before me now. Tomorrow He will still be Jesus. Tomorrow He will still be faithful. I only need to walk today’s part of the course with Him.
Meaning: Jesus gives me what I need for today.
Daily Walk: Do today’s next right thing with Jesus.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, keep me from carrying tomorrow before it comes. Give me wisdom, peace, and strength for what You have placed in front of me today. Help me walk closely with You one day at a time. Amen.
Jesus today: His strength is enough for today.
6. I Can Do the Next Right Thing
Psalm 119:105 — “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Jesus does not always show me the whole road. Often He gives enough light for the next step. That is where faith becomes practical. I do not have to solve everything today. I need to obey what Jesus has made clear today.
Philippians 4:13 gives me strength for that next step. Sometimes the next right thing is small: tell the truth, make the call, forgive, pray, work, wait, apologize, or simply keep going. Faithfulness is often built one obedient step at a time.
Meaning: Jesus gives enough light for the next step.
Daily Walk: Ask, “What is the next right thing Jesus wants me to do?” Then do it.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, keep me from becoming overwhelmed by everything ahead. Show me the next right thing and give me strength to do it faithfully. Amen.
Jesus today: I will do the next right thing with Him.
7. Jesus Strengthens Me to Obey
John 14:15 — “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
Jesus does not strengthen me merely so that I can feel better. He gives me strength to obey Him. Love for Jesus becomes visible in the choices I make, especially when obedience is difficult.
There will be moments when I know what Jesus wants but do not feel like doing it. That is when Philippians 4:13 becomes very practical. I can obey because Christ supplies what I lack. His strength enables me to say yes to Him.
Meaning: Jesus gives strength for obedience.
Daily Walk: When you know what Jesus wants, stop negotiating and obey.
Prayer: Jesus, give me strength to obey You quickly and completely. Keep me from excusing what You have clearly told me to do. Let my love for You show in my obedience today. Amen.
Jesus today: His strength helps me say yes.
8. Jesus Strengthens Me When I Am Tired
Matthew 11:28 — “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
There are days when I am physically, emotionally, or spiritually tired. Jesus does not shame me for being weary. He tells me to come to Him. The answer to weariness is not always pushing harder. Sometimes it is drawing closer to Jesus.
His rest does not necessarily remove the work. It changes how I carry it. Philippians 4:13 reminds me that I do not have to manufacture strength from an empty tank. I can receive strength from Christ.
Meaning: Weariness should send me toward Jesus.
Daily Walk: When you are tired, turn first to Christ instead of simply pushing harder.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I bring You my weariness. Give me the rest, strength, and wisdom I need. Help me know when to keep going and when to stop and receive Your rest. Amen.
Jesus today: When I am tired, I can come to Him.
9. Jesus Strengthens Me When I Am Afraid
Isaiah 41:10 — “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee.”
Fear can make the road ahead look larger than it really is. God does not merely tell me not to fear; He tells me why I do not have to live under fear: “I am with thee.” His presence changes the situation.
Courage is not pretending that nothing scares me. Courage is moving forward because Jesus is with me. Philippians 4:13 means fear does not have the final word. Christ gives me strength to take the step He has placed before me.
Meaning: Jesus is greater than what I fear.
Daily Walk: Name your fear, give it to Jesus, and keep walking with Him.
Prayer: Jesus, You know what frightens me. Keep fear from controlling my decisions. Remind me that You are with me and give me courage to follow You today. Amen.
Jesus today: I do not walk into fear alone.
10. Jesus Strengthens Me to Wait
Isaiah 40:31 — “They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.”
Waiting can be one of the hardest parts of the course. I want movement, answers, and open doors. Sometimes Jesus says, “Wait.” Waiting is not wasted time when I am waiting with Him.
There are times when the strength Jesus gives is not strength to move but strength to remain faithful while nothing seems to be happening. Philippians 4:13 includes that kind of strength too. I can wait without quitting, forcing, or running ahead of Jesus.
Meaning: Waiting on Jesus is part of walking with Jesus.
Daily Walk: Do not force a door Jesus has not opened. Stay faithful where He has placed you.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach me to wait without becoming impatient or discouraged. Keep me from running ahead of You. Renew my strength and help me trust Your timing. Amen.
Jesus today: I can wait because He is still working.
11. Jesus Strengthens Me to Keep Going
Galatians 6:9 — “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
There are times when I am doing the right thing but seeing very little result. That is when discouragement whispers, “Why keep going?” Jesus gives me strength to remain faithful even when I cannot yet see what He is doing.
Philippians 4:13 reminds me that I do not continue because I have endless strength. I continue because Christ strengthens me. My responsibility is faithfulness. The results belong to Him.
Meaning: Jesus gives me strength to remain faithful.
Daily Walk: Do not quit simply because you cannot yet see the result.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, strengthen me when I become tired of doing what is right. Keep me faithful when progress seems slow. Help me trust that You are working even when I cannot see it. Amen.
Jesus today: I can keep going because He strengthens me.
12. Jesus Strengthens Me Through Trouble
John 16:33 — “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Jesus never promised that His course would be free from trouble. In fact, He told us to expect it. The promise is not that I will avoid every difficult place. The promise is that Jesus will be with me in it, and He has already overcome the world.
Philippians 4:13 becomes especially important when life hurts. I can endure what Jesus allows because my strength does not come from my circumstances. It comes from Christ. Trouble may shake me, but it does not have to separate me from Him.
Meaning: Trouble does not mean Jesus has left me.
Daily Walk: When trouble comes, turn toward Jesus rather than away from Him.
Prayer: Jesus, when life becomes difficult, keep me close to You. Give me strength to walk through trouble without losing faith, hope, or obedience. Remind me that You have overcome the world. Amen.
Jesus today: Trouble may be on my course, but Jesus is there too.
13. Jesus Strengthens Me Against Temptation
1 Corinthians 10:13 — “God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape.”
Temptation is real, but it is not irresistible. Jesus never tells me that I have to surrender to every desire, thought, habit, or opportunity that pulls me away from Him. God is faithful, and He provides a way to obey.
Philippians 4:13 means I do not have to face temptation depending only upon yesterday’s willpower. Christ gives me strength now. Sometimes His way of escape is simple: walk away, shut it off, tell somebody, pray immediately, or refuse the first thought before it grows.
Meaning: Temptation does not have to control me.
Daily Walk: Look for God’s way of escape and take it quickly.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, strengthen me when temptation comes. Help me recognize the way of escape You provide and give me the willingness to take it. Keep my heart close to You. Amen.
Jesus today: His strength is greater than my temptation.
14. Jesus Strengthens Me After I Fail
1 John 1:9 — “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Failure does not have to become the end of my course. When I sin, Jesus calls me to confession, forgiveness, cleansing, and a return to obedience. I do not need to hide from Him or spend days running from the One who already knows what I did.
Philippians 4:13 also applies to getting back up. Christ gives me strength to confess honestly, receive His forgiveness, learn from my failure, and take the next right step. Jesus does not excuse my sin, but neither does He abandon me in it.
Meaning: Failure should send me quickly back to Jesus.
Daily Walk: Keep short accounts. Confess sin quickly and return to obedience.
Prayer: Jesus, when I fail, keep me from hiding or making excuses. Help me confess my sin, receive Your forgiveness, and get back on the course You have given me. Strengthen me to walk differently today. Amen.
Jesus today: When I fall, I can return immediately to Him.
15. Jesus Strengthens Me to Leave the Past Behind
Philippians 3:13–14 — “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark.”
The past can teach me, but Jesus never intended for it to imprison me. I cannot change yesterday. I can confess what was wrong, thank God for what was good, learn what He wants to teach me, and keep moving toward Christ.
Paul had a past filled with things he could regret, but he refused to live looking backward. Philippians 4:13 tells me that Jesus gives me strength to walk forward. My past may explain some things about me, but Jesus determines where I am going.
Meaning: I cannot walk today’s course while constantly living in yesterday.
Daily Walk: Give Jesus the past and faithfully walk where He is leading you now.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me release what I cannot change. Forgive what needs forgiving, heal what needs healing, and teach me what I need to learn. Give me strength to press forward with my eyes on You. Amen.
Jesus today: My past is behind me; Jesus is leading me forward.
16. Jesus Strengthens Me to Forgive
Ephesians 4:32 — “Forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Forgiveness can be one of the hardest parts of following Jesus. Some hurts are deep, and some wounds remain tender for a long time. Jesus does not ask me to pretend the hurt did not happen. He asks me to release the person to Him and refuse to let bitterness control my heart.
Philippians 4:13 reminds me that I do not have to forgive in my own strength. Jesus has forgiven me, and He can give me strength to forgive others. Forgiveness may be a process, but obedience can begin today.
Meaning: Jesus gives me strength to release bitterness.
Daily Walk: When an old hurt rises up, give the person and the hurt back to Jesus.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, You know every hurt I carry. Keep bitterness from taking root in me. Give me strength to forgive as You have forgiven me and help me walk in freedom with You. Amen.
Jesus today: Because He forgave me, He can strengthen me to forgive.
17. Jesus Strengthens Me to Love Difficult People
John 13:34 — “As I have loved you, that ye also love one another.”
Jesus does not tell me to love people only when they are easy to love. He says, “As I have loved you.” That changes everything. His love toward me becomes the pattern and the source of my love toward others.
There will be people on my course who irritate me, disappoint me, misunderstand me, or even hurt me. Philippians 4:13 means Jesus can give me strength to respond differently than my natural reaction. I may not be able to change them, but Jesus can change the way I treat them.
Meaning: Jesus supplies the love I do not naturally have.
Daily Walk: Ask Jesus to love one difficult person through you today.
Prayer: Jesus, give me Your love for the people I struggle with. Keep me from reacting out of anger, pride, or resentment. Let the way I treat others show that You are living in me. Amen.
Jesus today: His love can reach through me where mine runs out.
18. Jesus Strengthens Me to Control My Words
James 1:19 — “Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.”
Some of my greatest damage can come from words spoken too quickly. Jesus gives me strength not only to speak but also to remain quiet when silence is wiser. I do not have to answer every criticism, correct every person, or say everything that comes into my mind.
Philippians 4:13 applies to my mouth too. Christ can give me strength to listen, think, pray, and then speak words that are truthful and helpful. Sometimes the strongest response is simply refusing to react.
Meaning: Jesus can rule my words as well as my actions.
Daily Walk: Slow down before speaking, especially when you are angry or hurt.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, guard my mouth today. Help me listen well and speak carefully. Keep me from using words that injure people, and give me words that are truthful, kind, and useful. Amen.
Jesus today: He can give me strength to speak well and strength to stay quiet.
19. Jesus Strengthens Me to Serve
Mark 10:45 — “For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister.”
Jesus showed us that greatness in His Kingdom looks like service. He did not spend His life demanding that people take care of Him. He gave Himself for others. If I am following Jesus, serving people will become part of my course.
Serving can become tiring when I begin doing it in my own strength or when I expect recognition. Philippians 4:13 brings me back to Christ. I serve because Jesus has served me, and I receive from Him what I need to keep giving.
Meaning: Following Jesus includes serving others.
Daily Walk: Look for one person you can help without expecting anything in return.
Prayer: Jesus, give me a servant’s heart. Keep me from needing recognition or praise. Help me see the people around me and willingly serve them in Your strength. Amen.
Jesus today: He gives me strength to serve because He first served me.
20. Jesus Strengthens Me in Ordinary Life
Colossians 3:17 — “Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
Much of the course Jesus gives me will look ordinary. There are meals to prepare, work to finish, people to call, bills to pay, errands to run, and responsibilities to carry. Jesus is not absent from any of it.
Philippians 4:13 is not only for great emergencies or dramatic moments. Jesus gives me strength to live an ordinary day faithfully. The smallest responsibility can become worship when I do it with Him and for Him.
Meaning: Jesus is present in the ordinary parts of my life.
Daily Walk: Do the ordinary things in front of you as an act of faithfulness to Jesus.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, keep me from overlooking You in the ordinary parts of my day. Give me strength to do simple things faithfully, gladly, and well. Let everything I do today honor You. Amen.
Jesus today: There is no ordinary day when I am walking it with Him.
21. Jesus Strengthens Me When Nobody Notices
Colossians 3:23 — “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”
It is easy to become discouraged when I work, serve, pray, give, or help and nobody seems to notice. Jesus reminds me that my faithfulness is first offered to Him. I do not need applause to know that my life matters.
Philippians 4:13 gives me strength to keep doing what is right even when there is no recognition. Jesus sees what others miss. If I am doing it for Him, nothing faithful is wasted.
Meaning: Jesus sees the faithfulness other people may never see.
Daily Walk: Do one good thing today simply because it pleases Jesus.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, free me from needing recognition. Help me serve You faithfully whether anyone notices or not. Let pleasing You be enough for me today. Amen.
Jesus today: He sees me, and that is enough.
22. Jesus Strengthens Me to Carry Responsibility
Philippians 2:13 — “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
Jesus gives each of us responsibilities. Some are public and some are private. Some feel rewarding and others feel heavy. Whatever He places in my hands, I can depend upon Him to work in me as I faithfully carry it.
Philippians 4:13 does not mean I can avoid responsibility. It means I can face it with Christ. I do not have to say, “I cannot handle this.” I can ask, “Jesus, how do You want me to handle what You have given me?”
Meaning: Jesus works in me as I carry what He gives me.
Daily Walk: Take responsibility for what belongs to you and ask Jesus for strength to do it well.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me faithfully carry the responsibilities You have placed in my hands. Keep me from avoiding what I should do or trying to carry what does not belong to me. Work in me today. Amen.
Jesus today: He will strengthen me for what He has given me to carry.
23. Jesus Strengthens Me to Shepherd Others
1 Peter 5:2 — “Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof.”
Shepherding people is a privilege, but it can become heavy if I begin believing everything depends upon me. I cannot save anyone, change anyone, or make anyone follow Jesus. My responsibility is to love them, teach the truth, pray for them, and faithfully point them toward Christ.
Philippians 4:13 reminds me where the strength for shepherding comes from. Jesus is the Chief Shepherd. I serve under Him. When I do not know what to say, when people disappoint me, or when the burden feels too large, I can return to Jesus for wisdom and strength.
Meaning: I shepherd people under the authority and strength of Jesus.
Daily Walk: Love the people Jesus has placed around you without trying to become their Savior.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me care faithfully for the people You have placed in my life. Give me wisdom, patience, courage, and love. Keep me pointing them toward You and trusting You with the results. Amen.
Jesus today: I am not the Shepherd; I serve the Shepherd.
24. Jesus Strengthens Me to Speak Truth With Love
Ephesians 4:15 — “Speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.”
Jesus never asks me to choose between truth and love. Truth without love can become harsh. Love without truth can become weak and dishonest. Jesus gives me strength to hold both together.
There will be times on my course when saying nothing would be easier. There will also be times when speaking harshly would satisfy my flesh. Philippians 4:13 means Christ can give me strength to speak what is true in a way that reflects His heart.
Meaning: Jesus makes me tender with people and faithful to truth.
Daily Walk: Before difficult words, ask, “Is it true? Is it necessary? Can I say it with the love of Jesus?”
Prayer: Jesus, help me never compromise Your truth, but keep me from using truth as a weapon. Give me courage to speak when I should and love in the way I speak. Amen.
Jesus today: His strength helps me be truthful and loving at the same time.
25. Jesus Strengthens Me When I Cannot Fix Things
Proverbs 3:5 — “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
There are people I cannot fix, situations I cannot control, and problems I cannot solve. My desire to make everything right can become another form of trying to live in my own strength. Jesus sometimes asks me to act, but He also asks me to trust.
Philippians 4:13 includes the strength to release what is beyond me. I can pray, love, help, speak truth, and do what Jesus gives me to do. Then I must place the outcome in His hands. Trusting Jesus is not doing nothing. It is refusing to carry what belongs to Him.
Meaning: I do what Jesus gives me to do and trust Him with what I cannot do.
Daily Walk: Identify one thing you cannot fix and deliberately place it in Jesus’ hands.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, You know the things I want desperately to fix but cannot. Show me what belongs to me and what belongs to You. Give me strength to act faithfully and then trust You with the outcome. Amen.
Jesus today: What I cannot fix, I can place in His hands.
26. Jesus Strengthens Me to Be Content
Philippians 4:11–13 — “I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content… I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
This is the setting of Philippians 4:13. Paul was not talking about getting everything he wanted. He was talking about learning to live faithfully with much or with little. His contentment did not come from circumstances. It came from Christ.
Jesus can give me strength to live without constantly needing something more, something different, or something better before I can have peace. Contentment says, “Jesus is with me here, and He is enough for this place.”
Meaning: Contentment comes from Christ, not circumstances.
Daily Walk: Thank Jesus for what He has already given you instead of spending the day wanting what you do not have.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach me the contentment Paul learned. Keep me from allowing circumstances to determine my peace. Help me receive today as Your gift and depend upon You in whatever situation I face. Amen.
Jesus today: If I have Him, I have what I need to faithfully walk today.
27. Jesus Strengthens Me Through Changing Seasons
Hebrews 13:8 — “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
Life changes. People change. Responsibilities change. Health, work, relationships, opportunities, and circumstances all move through different seasons. Sometimes I would rather hold onto what used to be than accept where Jesus has placed me now.
But Jesus does not change. The course may look different, but the Shepherd remains the same. Philippians 4:13 reminds me that Christ will give me strength for this season just as He gave me strength for the last one.
Meaning: My circumstances change; Jesus does not.
Daily Walk: Stop trying to live yesterday’s season and ask Jesus how to faithfully live this one.
Prayer: Jesus, help me accept the season You have placed me in. Keep me from living in the past or fearing the future. You have been faithful before, and I trust You to be faithful now. Amen.
Jesus today: The road changes, but my Shepherd does not.
28. Jesus Strengthens Me to Finish Well
2 Timothy 4:7 — “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
Paul wanted more than a good beginning. He wanted to finish the course Jesus gave him. Finishing well is not about never making mistakes. It is about continuing to return to Jesus, obey Him, trust Him, and keep the faith.
Philippians 4:13 gives me hope that I do not have to finish in my own strength. The same Jesus who called me will strengthen me as long as He leaves me on this course. My responsibility is to stay close and keep walking.
Meaning: Faithfulness is a lifetime walk with Jesus.
Daily Walk: Live today in a way that helps you finish well tomorrow.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, keep me faithful all the way to the end. Guard my heart from drifting away from You. Give me strength to keep walking, keep serving, keep loving, and keep believing You. Amen.
Jesus today: I want to finish the course still walking closely with Him.
29. Jesus Strengthens Me to Keep Him First
Matthew 6:33 — “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness.”
Many things compete for first place in my life. Work, money, comfort, relationships, success, fear, and even good responsibilities can slowly push Jesus away from the center. Jesus calls me back to one clear priority: seek Him first.
Philippians 4:13 reminds me that I need His strength even to keep my priorities right. I can easily drift toward myself. Jesus gives me strength to make Him first again and again.
Meaning: Everything works better when Jesus is in His proper place.
Daily Walk: Before making your plans today, ask, “Am I making Jesus first?”
Prayer: Lord Jesus, take first place in my thoughts, decisions, relationships, work, and desires. Show me anything I have placed ahead of You and give me strength to put it back where it belongs. Amen.
Jesus today: My next right thing is to make Him first.
30. Jesus Himself Is My Strength
Psalm 73:26 — “My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart.”
Eventually my own strength runs out. My body tires. My emotions weaken. My plans fail. My confidence can disappear. But the Lord does not disappear when I become weak.
Philippians 4:13 is personal: “through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Jesus does more than hand me strength and send me away. He stays with me. His presence becomes the strength of my life.
Meaning: My deepest strength is not something Jesus gives me apart from Himself. It is Jesus with me.
Daily Walk: When you feel weak today, do not merely ask for strength. Draw close to Jesus.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the strength of my heart. When my strength fails, keep me near You. Help me depend upon Your presence rather than my ability. Be everything I need for the course You have given me. Amen.
Jesus today: My strength is a Person, and His name is Jesus.
31. I Can Walk the Course Jesus Gives Me
Philippians 4:13 — “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Now the verse comes back to where we began. I do not know everything that remains on my course. There will be joys I cannot yet see, difficulties I would never choose, people I am called to love, responsibilities I must carry, and moments when I wonder whether I can keep going.
The answer is not that I am strong enough. The answer is Jesus. I can walk the course He gives me because He walks it with me. I can do the next right thing, endure the difficult day, serve the person in front of me, confess when I fail, wait when He says wait, and keep moving toward the finish because Christ strengthens me.
Meaning: Jesus will give me strength for everything He calls me to do.
Daily Walk: Walk today’s part of the course with Jesus and leave tomorrow with Him.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for setting my course and never asking me to walk it alone. Give me strength for every step You place before me. Keep me faithful, humble, obedient, and close to You until the course is finished. I want my life to say that Jesus was enough. Amen.
Jesus today: Jesus has set my course. Jesus walks it with me. Jesus gives me strength to faithfully walk today’s part of it.
